Power naps are basically short naps taken for the purpose of improving your health. Sleeping this way is not meant to replace regular sleep. But it can be a supplement to normal sleep. Getting extra sleep can have many benefits for those that can take advantage.

Most people can benefit from the extra sleep. Anyone that suffers from sleep deficit is a prime candidate. Those that have some type of sleep disorder should probably not get into the habit of taking naps. If you suffer from insomnia for example you already have trouble sleeping at night. Therefore it wouldn't be much benefit for you to try to sleep at another time of day.
How long should you sleep?
The most effective thing to do is to sleep no longer than 20 to 30 minutes. If you sleep longer you run the risk of not being able to sleep during your normal sleep cycle.
When Should You sleep?
You can sleep in the morning or just after lunch. Many would benefit from sleeping between 2P.M. and 4P.M.
